once again easily identified links at top of web to important categories and sections. liked that in their About Us section, they had a map of the library and a click thru to Google Maps for directions. This one didn't have enough visual impact with photos. Locations and hours not readily findable on the homepage but once again you can search and limit to the catalog, site, local information, etc.
Like the headings at the top, but found the pages jumbled-sizing of headings helped separate entries, but they were all over the place with color Like that they clarify library resources with a few sentences for those not used to "library world" (for example, what the media center and music app specifically offer) Like the FAQ page under "About Us"
from another reference staff member: homepage had no address or phone number. liked: varius suggestions for donating to the library, floor plan, list of resoures by both title and subject.
I really like the map of the library. Clicking on it enlarges that portion will more links that provide information about those areas. Unfortunately, it was the only place a saw links to youth services except for the boring list off WPPL webpages. Definately, feels disorganized overall. The WPPL webpages would be better if sorted by type of link rather than alphabetical.
Staff comments: Pros- Lots of images and links, includes calendar of events with hyperlinks for each day, Colors Calendar of events on main page, very nice, Search Bar on Main Screen
Cons- Images can get a little crazy, no job information, hard to find details about the staff, font a bit big

This is from one of my staff as well. looks pretty but is disorganized. Not an improvement on our current site.

ReplyDeleteLiked that the Search feature broken down into options (Catalog, Site, Local Info, etc...)
ReplyDeleteThought that maybe the home page was too busy??
I realize this isn't possible but it looks like it's fifty years old. Very generic feel.

From a reference staff member:
ReplyDeleteSeems disorganized with too much information to sift through. Too much blue used as background & letters.
