too much, too busy, too many different fonts, colors, etc. the background is too dark. one thing, maybe we need to review how we are using icons, etc. for links to databases, ebook help, etc. Is it cleaner to use text when you have a number of different links to this type of item and save the more visual and graphic for programs, events, etc? Just asking.
from a reference staff member: pictures take up a lot of real estate but this one is well organized and relatively easy on the eye. wish hours and location were on home page but there is a clear link to them in a prominent spot. my 2nd favorite of the group Andie provided.
from another reference staff member: color combination too subdued. liked: meeting rooms' information, list of software applications, library use calculator
From a reference staff member: The black background is not attractive. The website looks too monotonous due to lack of color and too much uniformity in layout. Nothing catches the eye.
Pros- Can pay fees online and give donations to the library, attractive layout without being too bold, lots of links available to databases and general library information, nice images (both computer generated and pictures of classes/programs), Search Bar on Top of Page, Top Stories Highlighted Section, Nice Tabs along side & Top Sections for adults, teens, children from home page
Cons- Library hours link is located WAY at the bottom of the site (you have to scroll down to the bottom of the site just to see the link), as is contact information. Could not easily find information about volunteering or employment. Could not find information about the staff and/or board members. Dislike color.
never lose top navigation line wherever you go
ReplyDeletesense of community connection with lots of patron pictures, slideshow of kids art, staff picks, even a tab for the Friends
