General comment about overall appearance.
Describe the design elements that you like.
Describe the functionality features that you like.
Navigation headings are prominent, changing photos at top add some energy (consistent elongated landscape sizing of top photo throughout site) Large, orange headings make it easy to scan lefthand graphics keep a lot of text interesting Love the new & hot items on catalog page also like the newsy/literary community items on catalog page clear photos and pricing of community rooms for rent
didn't like the blah browns. liked the way they list events and make them searchable. no hours or location on homepage. liked the way the Services are listed. No long descriptions taking up space when a person may only be interested in one of the elements. You can click thru to information about just what you are interested in, instead of scrolling down until you finally find what you want.
from a reference staff member: not a fan though I like events listing for around town but not as bulk of home page. like multilanguage links but not sure i'm thrilled with using google translate-do not like. need to click links to get any actual library info.
from another reference staff member: liked: director's blog, video tour, bookshop run by the friends, how to donate books, policies. with the posting of library board meeting minutes and other information this library has demonstrated its transparency and civic accountability.
Initial impression was that it didn't look like a library page. The colors feel formal. I liked the changing photo in the top banner. Each page is different. Like the searchable events Like that translations were for the full page Like the Blind and Physically Handicapped page - high contrast black and white for most information. Good for many visual problems.
From a reference staff member: Very drab colors. The important links at the top of the page are in small font and not very eye-catching. Hours & phone should be displayed on the page rather than under the link about us. Too much emphasis on library events to the exclusion of other information.
Staff comments: Pros: Lots of links to library programs, clear information regarding the library hours and other FAQs under the "about us" page, ability to translate the website into another language Likes: none really
Cons: Must search for library hours! Page layout is a little muted--not very interesting. Didn’t care for their page at all

Like most sites, busy and boring at the same time. Hate the blank video screen front and center.
